Randy grew up working retail in Oklahoma, continuing the family legacy his grandfather had started when managing the Whites Auto in Denver (the same chain Heath’s grandfather owned and operated a franchise for in Altus, coincidentally). When he started considering a career change, Randy had been working 15 years in a management role with the family hardware store in Childress, TX, and he was ready for something new. With his wife at home and his kids in school, Randy was starting to miss out on things he wanted to be there for.
Insurance offered career freedom, financial freedom, and the freedom to spend more time with his family. When the opportunity arose to buy an agency of his own, Randy said yes.
Randy, who was also selling with Farmers Insurance, got frustrated with the limitations of being a captive agent and called Heath to ask for advice. Both experiencing the same pains, the two realized they could build something. With Heath’s insurance industry savvy and Randy’s generations-old business systems expertise, Legacy Insurance was born.
